 In September of 2002, we again traveled on one of Jerry Van Dyke's riverboat tours. This time we traveled the Rhine through Holland, Germany, France and Switzerland from Amsterdam to Basel with a side trip down the picturesque Moselle. We hope you enjoy our travel pictures from this vacation.

Day 6
Konigswinter to Cochem

At Koblenz we left the Rhine and turned on to the Moselle River

We stopped in Cochem and explored the Reichsburg Castle

Day 7
Cochem to Zell

We stopped in pretty Bernkastel and had lots of time to wander the streets and enjoy seeing the half timbered houses and beautiful square

We spent the night docked in the village of Zell

Day 8
Trier, Luxembourg and Boppard

This morning we visited Trier. This is the oldest Roman town in Germany. It was founded by the emperor Augustus in 15 B.C.

We toured the remains of the Roman Baths as well as the Aula Palatina, which was Constantine's palace. The palace or basilica still exists as an Evangelical Lutheran Church and is the second largest surviving Roman structure besides the pantheon in Rome.

Then through the market square to the Porta Nigra, the old city gates built around 180 B.C.

After lunch we had a bus trip to Luxemberg City where we wandered through the city and had lunch at an outdoor cafe on the square. We rejoined the MS Rembrandt van Rijn in Koblenz and sailed to Boppard where we spent the night
